14 Days Grand Morocco Tour from Casablanca Itinerary
Arrival to Casablanca & City Exploration
In the first day of your 14 days grand Morocco tour itinerary, we pick you up from the airport, the port, or your accommodation in Casablanca. As Morocco's economic center and largest city, Casablanca offers a vibrant start. Firstly, we will visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Morocco, strikingly located on the city's west coast on a promontory overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy free time for lunch.
Then, we explore more of the city and also visit the amazing Corniche of Casablanca. Overnight stay in a comfortable hotel in Casablanca.
Casablanca → Rabat (The Capital) → Coastal Assilah
After breakfast, we drive along the picturesque coastline to Rabat. Rabat is one of the imperial cities in Morocco and the current capital, located in northwestern Morocco. We will visit the Highlights of the city, including: The Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and also The Kasbah of Oudaya with its charming Andalusian gardens. Enjoy free time for lunch.
In the afternoon, we head north to the beautiful seaside city of Assilah, known for its well-preserved 15th-century ramparts and murals. Overnight stay in a hotel in Assilah.
Assilah → Tangier (Bride of the North) → Rif Mountains → Chefchaouen (The Blue Pearl)
After breakfast, we depart from Assilah and drive along the scenic coastline to Tangier, also known as "the bride of the north." Tangier is located in the northwest, where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Spartel, in the Strait of Gibraltar. Firstly, we will explore this beautiful city and visit the legendary Cave of Hercules and the iconic Cape Spartel lighthouse.
Enjoy free time for lunch before we drive inland towards Chefchaouen, passing through the city of Tetouan and the picturesque Rif Mountains. Stops will be made along the way for panoramic views. Overnight stay in a hotel in Chefchaouen.
Sightseeing Chefchaouen (The Blue City)
After breakfast, we will explore Chefchaouen, the blue city, also known as Achaoun, which means "horns" in Berber, referring to the mountain peaks above the town. Located in the Rif Mountains of northwest Morocco, it is famed for its buildings and alleyways painted in striking white and blue.
Firstly, we will stroll through its charming old Medina, which boasts so many beautiful authentic blue doors and whitewashed walls, creating a uniquely serene atmosphere. Enjoy free time for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, you can opt for a hike to the Spanish Mosque (Ras El Maa), situated on high ground, offering spectacular panoramic views of the entire blue city. Finally, return to your hotel. Overnight stay in the same hotel in Chefchaouen.
Chefchaouen → Roman Ruins of Volubilis → Imperial Meknes → Fes (Cultural Heart)
After breakfast, feel free to take a final wander through the beautiful blue alleyways of Chefchaouen. Then, we drive to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. This remarkably well-preserved archaeological site is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site and features many beautiful mosaics, ancient pillars, and archways.
After strolling through the impressive ruins, we drive approximately 30 km to visit the city of Meknes, known as the Ismaili capital and one of Morocco's imperial cities. Here, we will explore: Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal stables, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Then, we head to Fes. Overnight stay in a traditional Riad in Fes.
Guided Sightseeing Tour of Fes Medina & Highlights
We dedicate the 6th day of our 14-day grand Morocco tour to exploring the Highlights of Fes city with an official local guide. Fes is considered one of Morocco's most important imperial cities, renowned as the country's cultural and religious center.
Firstly, we start the day by visiting the magnificent Royal Palace gate. Then, the well-preserved medieval Medina (Fes el-Bali), a UNESCO World Heritage site, which you will visit with your local guide. You will visit the iconic Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud), the main entrance to the old Medina, which appears to be a labyrinth of narrow alleyways and bustling streets. You will enter the Medina to visit key landmarks such as The Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine fountain, the famous Tanneries, and finally, the Quaraouin Mosque and University → recognized as the oldest existing, continually operating university in the world.
After our Medina exploration, we leave to visit the Jewish quarter, also known as "the Mellah." In the afternoon, we drive to an ancient fortress for panoramic views of the Medina and the entire city of Fes. Finally, you will be returned to your Riad.
Fes → Ifrane → Cedars Forest → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga Sahara (Luxury Camp Experience)
After breakfast in Fes, we drive south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane, renowned for its cool climate, occasional snow, and alpine-style architecture → earning it the nickname "Switzerland of Morocco." After that, we continue to the ancient cedars forest near Azrou, where the Barbary macaques live. Feel free to observe and feed them while wandering in the forest.
Later, we proceed to Midelt, where we will have free time for lunch. Our journey then takes us towards the Sahara Desert, navigating the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and following the picturesque Ziz River, with stops along the way for panoramic views of its stunning valley.
In the afternoon, we arrive at the edge of the magnificent Merzouga Sahara Desert (Erg Chebbi dunes). Here, you will switch to camels for an unforgettable trek across the sandy desert. You will make a stop on top of a high dune to enjoy the magical desert sunset. Finally, you continue to your luxury desert camp, a blend of traditional nomadic tents and modern hotel comforts. Here, you can enjoy traditional Berber drums music while dancing around a crackling campfire, under a vast open sky filled with stars. Dinner and an overnight stay in the camp.
Explore Merzouga Region: Nomads, Eyeliner Mine, Khamlia (Gnawa Village), Merzouga Lake, Erg Chebbi & Palm Groves (4x4 Tour)
Waking up early to witness the beautiful Sahara sunrise from the middle of the desert is an absolute must-do. After free time for breakfast at the camp, you will return by camel (or 4x4 vehicle) to Merzouga village to meet your driver. We dedicate the 8th day of your 14 days grand Morocco tour to exploring the fascinating Merzouga region. This area boasts many incredible sites, from vast sand dunes and wild lakes to ancient mines, fossil areas, and fabulous oases → ideal for various outdoor activities.
Our exploration begins with an off-road 4x4 desert tour to visit an ancient eyeliner mine. We then pay a visit to a local nomad family in their traditional, handmade woven tent, learning about their way of life while sharing a Berber tea. Our next stop is Khamlia village (Gnawa Village), where you will enjoy authentic Gnaoua music and dance performances by inhabitants originating from sub-Saharan countries like Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After free time for lunch in a local restaurant, we take a relaxing stroll through a palm tree grove. Later, we drive a few kilometers to see the wild lake of Merzouga, also called the flamingos' lake (seasonal). Finally, we return to Merzouga for dinner and an overnight stay in a comfortable hotel.
Merzouga Sahara → Rissani Market → Erfoud Fossils → Todra Gorges → Dades Valley
After breakfast at your hotel, we leave the desert to visit Rissani town, the ancient capital of the Tafilalet region. Rissani remains a significant trading hub, with a large, authentic souk (market) that is particularly lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
After a stroll through the Rissani Souk, we continue to Erfoud, renowned for its rich fossil deposits, where we can visit a workshop specializing in fossilized marble. Our journey then takes us through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad towards the spectacular Todra Gorges. Here, the Todra River has carved a magnificent, high red cliff-sided canyon through the mountains → an ideal spot for rock climbers and nature lovers alike. Feel free to wander through the gorges and appreciate the stunning natural beauty. Enjoy free time for lunch in a local restaurant.
Afterwards, we continue our drive to the Dades Valley, via Boumalne Dades, making inevitable stops to admire the unique "monkey fingers" rock formation and also on a spot atop a mountain overlooking the Dades Valley. Finally, dinner and an overnight stay in a comfortable hotel in the Dades Valley.
Dades Valley → Roses Valley → Skoura Palm Groves → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah → Telouet (Optional) → High Atlas Mountains → Marrakech
After breakfast, we continue our trip towards Kalaa M'gouna to visit the Roses Valley, famous for its fragrant Damascus roses and the annual Rose Festival held in May. We then drive through the verdant palm groves of Skoura, before reaching Ouarzazate. Here, we will visit the renowned Atlas Film Studios where many famous movies were shot (optional visit, entrance fee not included).
We then depart to visit the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. This fortified village is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has served as a backdrop for numerous epic films and TV series. (An optional visit to Telouet Kasbah can also be arranged).
After exploring, we continue our journey towards Marrakech. Our route takes us through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, crossing the scenic Tizi-N-Tichka pass (2260m). Stops will be made for lunch (at leisure) and to take pictures at interesting spots. Overnight stay in a traditional Riad in Marrakech.
Guided Sightseeing Tour of Marrakech (The Red City)
After a warm breakfast, you will be exploring the Highlights of Marrakech, "The Red City," with an official local guide. Marrakech is considered one of the four imperial cities in Morocco and is famed for its vibrant energy. Your visit will include: The Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the Ben Youssef Quranic Mosque (Medersa). You will also enjoy a stroll through the largest traditional Souk/Market in Morocco.
Enjoy free time for lunch near the bustling Jemaa El-Fna square. Later on, you will visit the iconic Koutoubia Mosque (the largest in Marrakech, exterior view) and the enchanting Majorelle Garden.
Finally, you will be transferred to your accommodation. Feel free to wander through the magical Jemaa El-Fna square on your own in the evening, experiencing its unique atmosphere.
Marrakech → Coastal Essaouira (Day Trip or Overnight)
After breakfast, we drive west to the charming coastal city of Essaouira. En route, we will make stops to see the unique sight of Argan trees, often with goats climbing their branches, and also for panoramic views.
Upon reaching Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador and one of Morocco's most important historical coastal cities, we will explore its key attractions. This includes the bustling fishing port, the ancient ramparts fortified with cannons (Skala de la Ville), and also the charming old Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site with its whitewashed buildings and blue accents. Enjoy fresh seafood for lunch (at leisure). Finally, transfer to your hotel. Overnight stay in Essaouira.
Essaouira → Return to Marrakech
After breakfast in Essaouira, we depart and drive back to Marrakech. Stops will be made for panoramic views along the way.
Upon arrival in Marrakech, you will have free time. Feel free to wander in the famous Jemaa El-Fna square, perhaps doing some last-minute shopping or enjoying the street performances. Overnight stay in your Riad in Marrakech.
Marrakech Airport Transfer / Departure
On the last day of your 14 days Morocco tour from Casablanca, and depending on your flight time, we will pick you up from your accommodation and transfer you to Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) for your departure.
